Monte Fossa delle Felci is one of the most fascinating natural wonders on the island of Salina. It stands as the highest peak in the entire Aeolian archipelago, reaching 962 meters above sea level. The Sentiero delle Felci (Fern Trail) is the path that cuts across its slopes, leading into the heart of an ancient dormant volcano. In antiquity, the path served the islanders as an access route to an uphill water source, which they used not only for drinking water supply but, more importantly, for irrigating their fields. Today, this trail is the custodian of the present and past of the municipality of Malfa. Those who wish to immerse themselves in this experience will have the opportunity to discover what the trail offers, not only from a naturalistic perspective but also concerning the cultural and historical aspects that characterize the locality.
